Material and craftsmanship

The "Tradition" caviar bowl consists of two nested bowls made of 925 sterling silver. The inner bowl is fully gold-plated – gold does not alter the taste of sensitive foods like caviar and retains its shine for years. The outer bowl holds ice, keeping the contents of the inner bowl cool without meltwater reaching the caviar. The exterior of the bowl features dense niello ornamentation: flowers, vines, and leaves, engraved by hand and filled with black niello. Niello is not an applied paint, but a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished – much like ink in silver. The result is permanent and insoluble. The base remains in polished silver, providing a calm finish to the bowl. The included caviar spoon with its twisted handle completes the set and is designed for the delicate handling of caviar, which does not tolerate metal cutlery with reactive surfaces.

Care

Clean the caviar bowl by hand washing only – use warm water and a mild dish soap; do not use a dishwasher or silver dip. Both would damage the gold plating and the niello inlay. For the exterior silver surface, a soft silver polishing cloth is suitable to gently refresh the finish without touching the niello engraving.
