Material and workmanship

The Italian tulip shape is the tried-and-tested base for this line of baby cups: slightly narrower at the bottom, gently opening at the top, ergonomic for small hands, and stable when standing. The two loop handles are bent from a single piece of silver and attached on both sides, allowing a toddler to grip the cup securely with both hands. 120 grams of solid 925 sterling silver feel valuable but not too heavy in the hand. The surface is polished to a high gloss all around, with no enamel or gold plating — this pure design language is the hallmark of ZARAMELLA from Italy.

The steam locomotive motif

The train motif sits freely in the center on the front, not in a medallion or frame, but embossed directly into the silver: a classic steam locomotive in profile, with a driver's cab, an implied boiler, a chimney, and four wheels with intricate spokes. Not a modern locomotive, but a nostalgically drawn steam engine, as if from an old toy train set or a children's book. For generations, the railway has represented travel, progress, and adventure in the world of children — and above all, the classic childhood dream of being a train driver.

Occasions and target groups

Key occasions include a boy's baptism, the birth of a son, or a first birthday; it is also suitable for a first tooth or a name day. The train motif is traditionally associated with boys — a lasting classic, although not intended to be exclusively male, as girls who love trains will also find it a suitable gift. If you prefer to give a gender-neutral gift, you will find bear, teddy bear, or elephant motifs in the same shape.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The smooth back of the cup can be engraved — a name and baptism date are common, or alternatively a monogram, date of birth, or a short baptismal blessing. Engraving is handled by personal arrangement; please contact us before ordering so we can clarify the placement, font, and text length. On request, we also include the SilberVerse card with your order: a digitally customized card in 15 × 10 cm photo format, tailored to the occasion and the individual, free of charge and always a unique piece.

Care

925 sterling silver is 92.5% fine silver and is durable. After use, rinse with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. If any tarnishing occurs, a silver polishing cloth helps — apply no pressure. The delicate details of the locomotive such as the wheels, chimney, and spokes can be gently polished with a soft cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners. Not dishwasher safe; do not use silver baths or aggressive cleaning agents. The included gift box or a velvet pouch is suitable for storage, which minimizes tarnishing and preserves the high gloss for years.

Frequently asked questions

Is the cup only suitable for boys?
The train motif is traditionally associated with boys but is not intended to be exclusively male. Train-loving girls or families who simply find the motif beautiful enjoy choosing it as well. If you are looking for an explicitly gender-neutral motif, you will find bear, teddy bear, or elephant variants in the same shape.

Can the baby cup be engraved?
Yes. The smooth back is suitable for a name, baptism date, birth date, monogram, or a short baptismal blessing. Engraving is handled by personal arrangement; it is best to get in touch with us briefly before ordering.

From what age is the baby cup suitable?
The dimensions of H 8 x D 7.5 cm with two handles are suitable from about 6 months, as soon as a baby can sit and grip with both hands. For baptism gifts for newborns, the cup often remains in the gift box until the child is old enough.
