Children's Mug Classico 925 Silver — Decorative Handle, 100 ml

A christening cup without a motif may seem restrained at first glance — and that is precisely its strength. The Classico children's cup, made of 925 sterling silver, intentionally eschews reliefs and imagery, instead giving you a blank canvas for what truly matters: a name, date, or personal dedication. Its slightly bulbous cylindrical shape and decorative handle with small scroll ornaments make it a classic christening cup, just as it has been presented by godparents for generations.

Material and workmanship

The cup is made of solid 925 sterling silver and is highly polished on both the inside and outside. The walls curve gently outward, and the top rim is slightly rolled so that the cup is pleasant to drink from without any sharp edges. The decorative handle features small silver scrolls at both attachment points — a delicate detail rooted in Italian silversmithing tradition that gives the cup its own unique character despite its restraint. The Classico is crafted by Zaramella in Italy, completely without enamel, gilding, or colored elements.

Use and occasions

The Classico is the traditional silver christening cup in its most balanced form. It is perfect for a christening, a birth, or a first birthday, but is just as suitable as a gift for the first tooth, a name day, or as a keepsake for any other milestone in early childhood. Since neither color nor motif sets a specific theme, it is equally suitable for girls and boys and fits into any family tradition.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Because the front remains completely smooth, the Classico offers the largest engraving surface in the entire collection. A name, date of birth, christening date, a monogram, or a short christening verse can all find a place here — the engraving is performed after brief coordination regarding placement, font, and text length. If you order an engraving, we will include a complimentary 15 × 10 cm landscape-format SilberVerse card upon request — an individually designed, unique photo card with a personal message about the occasion and the child.

Care

925 sterling silver is durable and composed of 92.5% fine silver. After use, lukewarm water with a mild detergent is sufficient; then, dry it with a soft cloth. If a light patina develops over time, a silver polishing cloth used without pressure will help — the scroll ornaments on the handle can also be carefully refreshed with it. The cup is not dishwasher safe. Between occasions, it is best kept in its gift box or a velvet pouch.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the Classico have no motif?

The entire surface is intentionally left blank so that you can have it individually engraved. This makes the cup unique because of what you choose to engrave on it — not because of a pre-existing image.

From what age is this cup suitable?

With a volume of 100 ml, a height of approx. 6 cm, and an easy-to-grip handle, the Classico is suitable from about 6 months of age, as soon as a baby can sit up and grasp with one hand. When given as a christening gift for a newborn, many families choose to keep it in the gift box for a while first.

What should I look for in silver for babies?

925 sterling silver consists of 92.5% fine silver and has a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. It has been the preferred material for children's silver for centuries. Ensure the cup size is appropriate for the age, let your child drink from it only under supervision, and clean the cup after every use.
