Material and craftsmanship

The niello engraving is subtly applied – not a full-surface ornament, but a single image on polished silver, complemented by a narrow diamond band at the top edge as a finish. The rest remains bare silver. This restraint is intentional: the cup is meant to be part of everyday life, not just for the display cabinet. The handle is large enough for children's fingers and sturdy enough for unsure grips, while simultaneously elegant enough for an adult's hand. The cup is crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug.

Occasions and target groups

The bird on the flowering branch is not a classic baby motif like a teddy bear or bunny – it is an image that a child finds beautiful and an adult recognizes as art. This is exactly what makes the cup a companion for decades: a child drinks their milk from it, a teenager puts it on a shelf, an adult uses it for their morning coffee and thinks of their baptism. As a motif, the bird in the flowering branch is symbolic of new beginnings and growth – for the start of a life that unfolds like summer.

The quintessential classic christening gift: a silver cup with the child's name, born from the tradition that the first piece of silver in a child's life is given at their baptism. The cup is also suitable as a birth gift, as well as for a first birthday when the child starts drinking on their own, or as a godparent gift that makes the bond between godparent and godchild visible.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon review, we will engrave the child's name and baptism date onto the cup – the engraving is placed on the polished silver surface opposite the bird motif, so that the cup has two sides: the image and the name. With an engraving, we include a free SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm) – an individually designed dedication card that rounds off the gift.

Care

925 sterling silver consists of 92.5% fine silver and has a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. Clean with warm water and mild dish soap; do not place in the dishwasher. The niello bird and polished silver are durable and easy to maintain – no sharp edges, stable handle, tip-proof shape.
