Ballpoint pen made of 925 silver – Nielloa Prestige

A ballpoint pen made of 925 sterling silver, its body completely covered in black niello scrolls and featuring an amethyst cabochon on the cap — a writing instrument for the desk, not for the pencil case. Anyone who picks it up immediately feels the weight of solid silver instead of a lightweight plastic casing.

Material and workmanship

The entire body of this ballpoint pen is made of 925 sterling silver, i.e., 92.5% fine silver, with no plating or coating. Floral niello scrolls run across the surface — blossoms, scrolling lines, and ornamental bands, melted into engraved recesses and permanently bonded to the silver. The result is a deep, matte black that stands out clearly from the polished silver and tends to deepen rather than wear away over time with use and polishing.

A round amethyst cabochon with a 7 mm diameter sits on the cap. The rich blue-violet of the stone provides a calm, colorful accent to the silver and black of the body — subtly placed but clearly visible.

Use and occasions

As an accessory for the desk, this ballpoint pen is suitable for moments that deserve a deliberate signature: contracts, personal letters, dedications. It is a fitting gift for anniversaries, retirement, closing a business deal, or as a present for business partners for whom an ordinary writing instrument would not be enough. It also makes for a lasting individual gift for a milestone birthday. You can find more ideas under Gift ideas made of 925 silver.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon review, an additional engraving is possible — initials or a short SilberVerse. We will coordinate the content, font, and position with you before execution. For this purpose, we offer you the SilberVerse card: a digitally designed greeting card in 15 × 10 cm landscape photo format, individually tailored to your gift and free of charge.

Care

The ballpoint pen is a writing instrument and does not come into contact with food. A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for cleaning. Silver can tarnish over time — this is normal and can be easily freshened up with a silver cleaner or a polishing cloth. Regular use also helps maintain the shine.

Frequently asked questions

What is niello and how durable is it?

Niello is a black inlay material made of metal sulfides that is melted into engraved recesses in the silver. It is permanently bonded to the silver and does not fade — unlike printed or vapor-deposited color layers.

Does the 925 silver on the pen tarnish?

Yes, silver can tarnish slightly over time. Regular use and a soft polishing cloth keep the shine; tarnished silver can be refreshed with a silver cleaner.

Which refill fits in the pen?

The ballpoint pen uses a twist mechanism with a standard refill that is available at stationery stores and is easy to replace.
