Shot Glass Set 925 Silver Niello Wave — 6 Stopka in Gift Box

Six Stopka cups, nestled closely together in a blue gift box on satin — this is the prelude to a round of shared drinking. Each cup features a swirling niello band that wraps around the polished silver body like a wave, 925 silver with no gilding, cool and clear. If you are looking for a set that is ready to use immediately yet tells a story, you will find it here.

Material and Craftsmanship

Each of the six cups is made of polished 925 sterling silver. The wave ornament is not a straight border, but a band that winds diagonally around the cup body — floral scrollwork with leaves and blossoms that brings a sense of movement to the image that a static motif would lack. The black niello paste lies in the engraved lines and creates a contrast that becomes even more distinct over time, as niello does not deteriorate with polishing, but rather gains in depth. For this set, we have deliberately omitted any gilding — no gold rim, no accent, just the cool tone of silver and black. All six cups bear the same motif, but because each is engraved by hand, the lines differ slightly in thickness and position. Side by side in the box, they appear uniform; viewed individually, each shows its own nuance.

The SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug contributes a niello tradition to this ornament that has been cultivated there for centuries.

Use and Occasions

The Stopka — Russian Стопка — is the classic basic form of the Russian shot glass: cylindrical, slightly conical, intended for a portion of vodka or schnapps. With 35 ml per cup, you are pouring an amount meant for a toast rather than for lingering: raise, speak, drink in one go, set the cup down opening-side down. Six cups mean six people — for a wedding table, for a men's gathering on a Friday evening, for a milestone birthday where an entire party toasts together. This set also works as a gift for a company anniversary or as a business present, because the blue box with a window and satin leaves an impression the moment it is opened, without you needing to arrange anything extra.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

Before engraving, we check whether and where an engraving — such as initials or a short inscription — is possible on the cups. On request, we include a personally designed SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm landscape), free of charge and each time designed specifically for that one occasion.

Care

Clean the cups after use with warm water and dry them afterwards with a soft cloth. A silver polishing cloth removes tarnish without damaging the niello inlay. Avoid the dishwasher and abrasive cleaning agents so that the polished surface and black engraving retain their contrast in the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the cups gold-plated?

No. This set deliberately remains 925 sterling silver with hand-engraved niello, without any gilding — the look is cool and clear rather than warm-gold.

Can I reorder individual cups?

We are happy to check this for you, depending on the availability of the current pattern at the manufactory.

Is an engraving possible?

Yes, subject to assessment — initials or a short text can be applied to each of the six cups, accompanied by the free SilberVerse card.
