Material and Workmanship

Each of the six cups is made of polished 925 sterling silver. The wave ornament is not a straight border, but a band that runs diagonally around the cup body — floral tendrils with leaves and blossoms that bring a dynamic movement to the design that a rigid motif would not have. The black niello mass lies in the engraved lines and creates a contrast that becomes even more distinct over time, as niello does not deteriorate with polishing, but gains depth. In this set, we deliberately forgo any gilding — no golden rim, no accent, just the cool tone of silver and black. All six cups bear the same motif, but because each is individually hand-engraved, the lines differ minimally in thickness and position. When placed side by side in the box, they appear uniform, but when viewed individually, each shows its own nuance.

Usage and Occasions

The Stopka — Russian Стопка — is the classic basic form of the Russian shot glass: cylindrical, slightly conical, designed for a vodka or schnapps in the right portion. With 35 ml per cup, you pour an amount that belongs to a toast and not to linger: raise, speak, drink in one go, place the cup down with the opening facing down. Six cups mean six people — for a wedding table, for a men's night out on Friday, for a milestone birthday where an entire dinner party toasts. This set also works well as a gift for a company anniversary or as a business present, because the blue box with a window and satin already makes an impression upon opening, without you having to arrange anything extra.

Care

Clean the cups after use with warm water and then dry them with a soft cloth. A silver polishing cloth removes tarnish without damaging the niello inlay. Avoid dishwashers and abrasive cleaning agents to maintain the polished surface and the black engraving's contrast long-term.
