Material and workmanship

The sieve bowl is pear-shaped and finely perforated — large enough for large-leaf tea, compact enough for any standard cup. The stem remains narrow and smoothly polished, without ornament, so that it rests comfortably in the hand. Only at the upper end of the handle does the niello appear: a shell- and blossom-shaped end cap in the style of classic Rocaille ornamentation, with waves and foliage, darkly fused into the silver. This niello inlay is not a coating, but an alloy that is fired into engraved recesses and then polished — it cannot come off. 925 sterling silver means a 92.5% fine silver content.

Use and occasions

Fill the sieve bowl with loose tea, hold the spoon in the hot cup, remove it after the desired steeping time — done. With a length of approx. 153 mm, the handle fits comfortably in the hand, while the bowl reaches the bottom of the cup.
