The hip flask is made of solid 925 sterling silver, from the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug. The spaniel motif sits in a rectangular image field on the front: the dog in profile, head slightly lowered, with prey in its mouth, behind it cloud shapes and a floral frame of blossoms and leaves. At the bottom of the image, a fine scale or wave pattern completes the scene.
