Material and craftsmanship
The centerpiece of the table icon is the oval enamel image: The guardian angel — young face with a halo, blue robes, golden wings, hands folded in prayer — is applied in multiple layers of color and fired, not printed or glued. The frame surrounding the image is made of 925 silver with a scalloped, floral-shaped edge, gilded and decorated with niello ornaments that flow in curved lines around the image. On the back, the frame features a symmetrical golden floral ornament on polished silver. The turned stem of polished silver with gilded rings connects the icon image to the round base, which features a wide niello band with floral ornaments and gold accents. With a height of 167 mm and a weight of approx. 149.5 grams, the table icon has a calm, upright presence.
Use and occasions
In the Orthodox tradition, the guardian angel is understood as a silent companion through life — its icon finds its place on a nightstand, dresser, or in a child's room. As a baptism gift, it represents the beginning of a new life; for First Communion or Confirmation, it accompanies the conscious entry into faith. The guardian angel icon is also a popular gift for setting off on a journey, the beginning of a new phase of life, or during difficult times — for a grandmother, mother, or godmother, for whom faith and beauty belong together.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
Upon review, an engraving is possible on the base or the back — a name, date, or short dedication, tailored to the available space. With an engraving, we can include a personal SilberVerse card in 15 x 10 cm photo format upon request — individually designed, suited to the occasion, and free of charge.
Care
- Dust with a soft, dry cloth
- Enamel is resistant to fading but does not require wet cleaning — dry dusting is sufficient
- Refresh silver surfaces if necessary using a silver polishing cloth
Frequently asked questions
Is the enamel painting applied by hand?
Yes, each color is its own layer of enamel, applied and fired individually — no prints or stickers. Enamel painting is one of the traditional techniques of Russian goldsmithing.
Can the table icon stand without a hanger?
Yes, the round base provides secure support — it is designed as a free-standing table piece.
Is an engraving possible, and what is included?
An engraving is possible on the base or the back upon review. If engraved, we include a free, individually designed SilberVerse card in 15 x 10 cm format.
