Material and craftsmanship
The centerpiece of the table icon is the oval enamel painting: The guardian angel — young face with halo, blue robe, golden wings, hands folded in prayer — is applied and fired in multiple layers of color, not printed or glued. The frame around the image is made of 925 silver with a wavy, floral-shaped edge, gilded and adorned with niello ornaments that flow in curved lines around the image. On the back, the frame features a symmetrical golden floral ornament on polished silver. The turned stem of polished silver with gilded rings connects the icon image to the round base, which features a wide niello band with floral ornaments and gold accents. With a height of 167 mm and a weight of approx. 149.5 grams, the table icon has a calm, upright presence.
