Material and Craftsmanship

At 10 × 9 cm and approx. 17 g, this shell is one of the lighter and more manageable versions in the collection—comfortable to hold for longer periods during the ceremony. The seashell surface is fully polished, the cross sits as a small ornament on the upper edge, and the baptismal shell is hallmarked. The shell is crafted in Italy, following the classic European silver tradition.

Use and Occasions

The shell represents pilgrimage, protection, and purification through water; the cross complements it with the central symbol of faith. Together, both symbols carry the liturgical meaning of baptism into a single, compact piece of silver. This shell is suitable for the baptism of both girls and boys, and is perfect for a name day, communion, or as a gift for a birth with a planned baptism. Its handy size also makes it a practical choice for home baptisms and smaller celebrations. You can find more pieces in our Baptism Gifts collection.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

The smooth areas of the inner surface can accommodate a name, baptism date, monogram, or baptismal verse after inspection. We are happy to coordinate the placement with you personally to ensure the engraving and cross ornament complement each other. If you wish, we can include a 15 × 10 cm SilberVerse card (landscape, standard photo format) with your order—individually designed and free of charge. Please provide your request in the comment field of the order, and we will contact you for the details.

Care

After use, rinse with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, and dry with a soft cloth. If patina develops, use a silver polishing cloth, applying no pressure in the area of the engraving and cross ornament. Store in a gift box or velvet pouch; do not put in the dishwasher.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the shell be engraved? Yes. The inside and back offer engraving surfaces for a name, date, monogram, or baptismal verse. Please contact us briefly before ordering so we can coordinate the placement together.

Is the shell suitable for home baptisms? Extremely well. The compact shape and moderate weight of approx. 17 g make it a practical choice for smaller ceremonies—home baptisms, chapel services, or family gatherings.

How should I store the baptismal shell after the ceremony? Floating or display frames are well-suited for silver objects of this size—they keep the shell visible, protect it from dust and tarnishing, and turn it into a wall piece that commemorates the baptismal day.
