The teapot holds approx. 800 ml, the sugar bowl approx. 390 ml and each of the six cups approx. 155 ml. They are joined by a milk jug, six teaspoons, a lemon fork and a shell-shaped sugar scoop. Saucers are not part of the set.

The tea set comes from ArgentA. It is newly made and arrives in a presentation case whose model and appearance may vary.

Porcelain in an openwork silver setting: how Symphonie is drawn

The teapot and sugar bowl are made of white porcelain with vertical fluting, while the cups are smooth. Around the teapot runs an openwork silver setting of heart-shaped floral cartouches, beneath it a lattice band in a diamond pattern with a beaded edge. The sugar bowl wears a setting of leaf arches and blossoms. The lids carry a small silver loop, and the handles are ornamentally worked.

The cup bears six-petalled blossoms and leafy tendrils. The teaspoons have an openwork handle with S-scrolls and foliage, a small blossom at the top and a row of beads at the bottom. The sugar scoop and lemon fork show a single large blossom on the handle.

The dark areas in the setting and the spoons are a blackened finish, neither lacquer nor paint. It brings out the depths, while the raised areas stay polished. Every silver piece is polished by hand, from the teapot to the lemon fork.

The tea set belongs to the “Silver and Porcelain” collection. The collection was created together with the Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, which also supplies the porcelain: the finest bone china. “Symphonie” is the name of the line at the manufacturer.
