Material and Workmanship

The two pear-shaped shakers are identically shaped and feature fully gilded lids as well as gilded rings at the base. The outside is matted and decorated with an all-around floral design in dark blue – the salt shaker has a lid with many small holes for fine salt grains, and the pepper shaker has a lid with fewer, larger holes for coarser pepper grains. The oval tray is specially sized for this set: the rim is fully gilded, the center matted, so that both shakers stand securely and without wobbling. All three pieces come from the SevChern manufactory and bear the original hallmark.

Use and Occasions

With a capacity of 30 ml each, the shakers are intended for regular use without constant refilling. The different hole patterns of the salt and pepper shakers facilitate identification at the table. The set is suitable as a gift for weddings, moving into a new home, a significant anniversary, or as a thank you – a piece that stays on the table and doesn't disappear into a cupboard.
