Material and craftsmanship

The body of the trinket box is crafted in the shape of a carriage, with four openwork wheels, each bearing a red cabochon stone at the center, a raised carriage step at the front, and a crowning decorative hood with a pearl garland and a central stone. The side panels feature a dense floral niello ornament: hand-engraved into the silver, then filled with the dark niello paste, which is melted in with an open flame and permanently bonded to the silver — no print, but ink in silver that gains contrast with every polishing. Gilded contours on the wheel rims, decorative moldings, and carriage step set warm accents against the black of the niello inlay and the cool white of the polished silver. Small golden teardrop pendants hang on the sides, giving the piece an additional sculptural touch.

Inside, the trinket box offers space for small valuables — jewelry, keepsakes, or personal notes. It comes from the Tsarist Festival collection by the SevChern manufactory from Veliky Ustyug, a line focused on representative objects such as trophies, trays, and boxes, combining niello with gilding and gemstones.

Care

Clean the trinket box only with a soft cloth — avoid the dishwasher and silver dipping, as both would damage the niello inlay and gilding.
