Material and Craftsmanship

The niello pattern of this plate follows an Art Deco-inspired ornamental principle: two parallel niello lines frame the top and bottom of the rim. Between the lines sit four symmetrically distributed corner ornaments – each a composition of palm-leaf-like volutes and geometric lines, inlaid into the polished 925 silver. The contrast between deep black niello and bright silver is clearly legible from any distance. The pattern belongs to the SevChern Hunting Collection, one of four major ornament families of the manufactory, used as a design language across plates, carafes, hip flasks, and cups. The plate is divided into two zones: the rim bears the ornament, while the mirror in the center remains highly polished and free of patterns – space for food, nothing to distract.

Usage and Occasions

With a diameter of 150 mm, the plate is suitable as a dessert plate, bread plate, amuse-bouche platter, chocolate presentation plate, or as a decorative/display piece. The SevChern Hunting Collection includes more than just the plates contained in the 2- or 3-person picnic cases: those who own the hunter's picnic case for 2 or the picnic set for 3 and are expanding their circle of friends can reorder individual plates – the pattern of this collection is consistent across all pieces. Even solo, the plate is a complete gift: for a hunting anniversary, engraved with a date and name; for a milestone birthday for collectors and lovers of silverware; or as a commemorative gift in a business setting.

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

Engravings are possible on the back of the plate upon inspection – date, name, short dedication, hunting insignia. Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm) – individually designed, appropriate for the occasion, and free of charge.

Care

Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap. No dishwasher, no silver dip – this would damage the niello inlay. A soft cloth for the polished mirror, and a silver polishing cloth for light patina if needed. Storage in the gift box or protected from light prevents tarnishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the plate fit the hunting picnic case?
Yes. As an addition to the 2-person set with the bear motif or the 3-person set with the capercaillie motif. The plate is not a replacement component, but a stylistic expansion for an additional place setting.

Can I use the plate as a daily dinner plate?
With a 150 mm diameter, it is suitable as a dessert plate, bread plate, or presentation plate – not as a main course plate. Ideal for pastries, chocolates, cheese, or fruit.

Are there other plates in the Hunting Collection?
Yes, there is a sister plate with a floral vine pattern in the same format. Both patterns can be combined in a collector's style.
