The ornamental band of the Merchant features the classic botanical repertoire of Veliky Ustyug: acanthus leaves, floral tendrils, curved motifs in the Old Russian plant style. Deep black on matte silver — niello, melted into engraved recesses, chemically bonded, insoluble. No coating, no lacquer, no layer that peels off. The ornamentation is part of the metal.

The loop handle is simple, without engraving — a deliberate point of calm next to the decorated body. This gives the piece its tension: the ornamented body, the smooth handle, the polished interior. Three different surfaces on an object that lies in the hand like a small, complete thing.

Care: Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild dish soap — no dishwasher, no silver dip. The niello band is fused and permanent; normal cleaning will not harm it. Clean the matted exterior surface with a soft cloth, no abrasive cleaner. You can refresh the polished interior at any time with a silver polishing cloth. Store in the gift box.
