The Chara necklace combines floral niello engraving with gold contours and two round-cut cabochon stones, each individually set in gold. Niello is a dark silver alloy that is hand-melted into the engraved lines and chemically-physically bonded with the silver – not a paint or varnish. The floral ornaments enclose the stone settings and give the necklace a cohesive, symmetrical visual language. The combination of matte niello black, polished silver, and warm gold accents appears cooler than gold jewelry and at the same time warmer than jewelry made entirely of silver.
