Material and Workmanship

The two-tined tip tapers to a point and is completely gilded, complemented by a florally engraved field directly at the base of the tines. A slender cartouche with the Astra ornament in niello technique is set on the stem: a dark silver alloy is melted by hand into the engraved lines, creating a fine contrast to the warm gold tone. Even though the fork, at 127 mm, is one of the smallest pieces in the collection, the pattern is executed with the same precision as on the larger serving pieces in the range. It is manufactured by SevChern in Russia; the Russian silver hallmark is visible on the handle, confirming its authenticity.
