Material and workmanship

All 24 pieces are made of 925 sterling silver and are fully 24-carat gold-plated – handles, bowls, and tine transitions alike. The niello ornament of the Provence line adds black floral accents: on the front of the handle, on the back of the spoon bowls, and at the transitions of the fork tines. In the manufacturer's catalog, the Provence line stands for southern-inspired floral ornamentation with soft, curved lines and calm borders. Each piece bears a 925 silver stamp and a manufacturer's mark on the back of the handle. The set is made by SevChern from Veliky Ustyug, a center of Russian niello tradition.

Use and occasions

Engraving and SilberVerse Card

Engraving is possible on the back of each handle, although limited by the full gold plating – the gold plating must be re-worked at the engraving edge. If an engraving is desired, we will check the feasibility for the specific piece and, if ordered with engraving, include a free SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm landscape format.

Care

Clean all pieces exclusively by hand with warm water, mild pH-neutral dish soap, and a soft cloth, and dry them immediately – water spots on gold plating are stubborn. The dishwasher is not suitable, as aggressive detergents and salt contact will attack both the gold plating and the niello inlay. After cleaning, store the pieces back in the gift box – protected storage in the individual compartments noticeably slows down tarnishing patina. Do not use silver polish on the gold-plated surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

How do I properly care for the 24-piece gold-plated set?
Hand wash only with mild dish soap, dry immediately, and store in the gift box. The dishwasher is not suitable due to the gold plating.

Is personal engraving possible?
Limited possibility, on the back of each handle – due to the gold plating, engraving is more elaborate than with pure silver. We check feasibility before ordering.

Is the set suitable for daily use?
Technically yes, but practically it is usually reserved for Sundays, holidays, and guest receptions, as storage in the gift box and care for frequent use require more effort than everyday cutlery.
