Material and Craftsmanship

The handles of matte 925 silver feature the hand-engraved Niello floral pattern on both sides: each line is hand-etched, and the black Niello alloy is then melted in. This lasting contrast between bright silver and dark Niello needs no gold plating to be effective. The bowls of the spoons and the tines of the forks are highly polished, presenting food with a cool silver gleam, while the knife blades of matte 925 silver are functionally sharp. Unlike gold-plated Astra variants, Astra Black has no gold on its edges, ends, or bowls — only the engraver's craftsmanship and the material itself. All pieces bear the original hallmark of the SevChern Manufactory.

Care

Clean the set by hand with warm water and mild dish soap, then dry immediately. Dishwashers are unsuitable as they can damage the Niello inlays. The highly polished surfaces can be refreshed with a soft linen cloth; abrasive cleaners should be avoided. With regular use, the silver develops a natural patina, while the Niello remains deep black. Store the cutlery in the included case.
