The niello ornaments are not only on the handle, but also extend into the spoon bowl and onto the fork tines - floral motifs that have been hand-engraved and then filled with the dark niello alloy. Without the additional gold layer of the Harmonie Gold variant, the contrast between polished silver and matt black niello appears particularly clear. Material and workmanship

Each of the four pieces is made of 925 sterling silver. The oval handle cartridge bears a hand-engraved floral pattern, which has been filled with niello and polished - a technique in which the dark mass is melted in an open flame and then worked until the characteristic alternation of shine and matt black becomes visible. The result is a permanent bond with the silver that does not wear out, but gains contrast with every polish.
