Both glasses feature the same image at their center: two interlocking rings, framed by gold volutes and floral niello scrollwork. The rings are hand-engraved into the silver, and the indentations are then filled with niello — a black inlay that is fused into the engraved lines, sanded flush, and polished, like ink in silver. No lacquer, no coating, but part of the metal itself. Between the niello surfaces, the fine gold plating provides warm accents that give the ornament depth and luster. Both chalices are fully gold-plated on the inside, so the champagne appears in a warm gold tone, while the polished silver on the outside gives the glass its weight and coolness — noticeably different from a crystal glass, which feels light and interchangeable after being lifted for the first time. Since each glass is individually engraved and nielloed, there may be minimal differences between the two chalices — this is not an irregularity, but the signature of genuine handcrafted work.

Care

Hand wash only with lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth. Never put them in the dishwasher — the heat and the detergents contained will attack the gold plating. Do not use silver dip baths, as they will dissolve the fine gold layer. Do not scrub the inside gold plating; polish it gently instead. Niello remains dark on its own and requires no special care other than protection from harsh cleaners.
