Carafe for water 925 silver gold-plated 1L

A carafe made of 925 sterling silver, gold-plated and adorned with a dense niello cartouche of blossoms and vines — crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug. With a capacity of one liter and a handle, it is a serving piece for the festive table that combines three levels of refinement: 925 silver as the base, gilding as a warm foundation, and niello engraving as the decorative centerpiece.

On the belly of the carafe lies a dense floral cartouche in niello black, interspersed with golden accents in the blossoms and foliage. The handle, spout, and ring-shaped lid knob are gold-plated, framing the ornament like a piece of jewelry. The gilding provides additional protection against tarnishing and gives the carafe its warm, golden tone, while the niello engraving adds the dark points of contrast that accentuate this gold.

Material and craftsmanship

The engraving on this carafe is not a surface decoration, but part of the metal itself. Niello is fused into the grooves of the engraving and anchored permanently in the silver as it cools — the ornament will not rub off, fade, or change over time. At 680 g, the carafe has a tangible weight: enough silver to ensure stability, prevent tipping when pouring, and provide a wall thickness that retains temperature. This combination of silver, gilding, and niello is typical of Russian silverware of the highest level of craftsmanship.

Usage and occasions

The carafe is a serving piece for table use — for water or still drinks without restriction; for wine or fruit juices, we recommend short contact times followed by rinsing. As a gift, it is suitable for company anniversaries, family gatherings, or as the start of an heirloom to be passed down through generations. It is a prestigious gift for collectors of Russian silver and for anyone who takes table culture seriously.

Care

No silver with niello engraving or gilding should ever be placed in the dishwasher. Warm water, a soft cloth, and mild dish soap are all this carafe needs. The interior can be rinsed out with lukewarm water. The gilding protects the underlying silver from typical tarnishing; with regular care, its luster will be permanently preserved.
