The bowl is crafted from solid 925 sterling silver and rests on its own pedestal base, which is gold-plated at the rim. The wide outer decorative ring is hand-engraved and features a floral niello ornament: a black inlay is fused into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished—like ink in silver—creating a permanent, high-contrast contour effect. The interior surface is completely gold-plated, which protects delicate foods such as caviar from any flavor alteration caused by the metal while also making them appear particularly refined. Weighing approximately 300 grams, the piece has a tangible material value that is immediately apparent when lifted.
