Schnapps Decanter, 925 Silver Gilded, Opulence, 300 ml

The Opulence schnapps carafe, crafted from 925 sterling silver, features a broad niello floral frieze of chrysanthemums and peonies with gilded petals—the gold here is not on the edges, but within the motif itself. The stout, barrel-shaped form without a handle sits comfortably in the hand and is sealed with a stopper topped by a gilded knob. It has a 300 ml capacity, perfect for a sophisticated round of schnapps, whiskey, or fruit brandy.

The niello forms the contours of the flowers—black, deep, and precise—while the gold fills the interior of the petals. The flowers themselves glow, not just their outlines. The main motif is framed by classic rope borders, a zigzag pattern on the neck, and a laurel frieze. Complementing these are the gilded decorative zones: the stopper knob, a wide shoulder ring, and the foot—all gold-plated. The result is striking both up close and from a distance.

Material and workmanship

Niello is a black inlay that is fused into engraved lines, ground flush, and polished—like ink in silver. It is not a lacquer or coating, but a permanent bond that only becomes deeper and clearer over time. For the Opulence collection, the wide floral frieze is first created, depicting chrysanthemums and peonies in full detail. This is followed by the gilding of the individual petals—a task requiring a high level of precision. Three layers work together: the clear 925 silver of the base body, the embedded black of the niello in the contours, and the gold in the flowers. SevChern in Veliky Ustyug crafts every piece by hand using traditional methods.

Use and occasions

The Opulence carafe is a functional serving bottle for fine schnapps, whiskey, fruit brandy, or liqueur. The golden stopper knob provides a reliable seal, and the carafe holds 300 ml—enough for a sophisticated round. For those who do not drink, the carafe can also be used for high-quality olive oil or simply as table decor. As a gift, it is suitable for special occasions for men, weddings, or company anniversaries—with an optional engraving, it becomes a personal, unique piece.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

The carafe can be personalized with an engraving upon assessment—a dedication, date, or monogram, uniquely etched into the silver. Upon request, we can include a personal SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm photo format—individually designed to suit the occasion and free of charge.

Care

A soft silver cloth is sufficient for care. No dishwasher, no silver dip. The niello patterns gain more contrast over time, rather than fading—regular polishing deepens the shine of both the gold and silver.

Frequently asked questions

What distinguishes the Opulence from other silver carafes?
The gold is not on the edges or borders, but fills the petals of the niello motifs themselves. Chrysanthemums and peonies shine gold against a black niello background.

Which spirits is the 300 ml carafe suitable for?
For anything meant to be served beautifully: schnapps, fruit brandy, herbal liqueur, whiskey, or Calvados. High-quality olive oils or vinegars can also be stored in it, as the stopper provides a reliable seal.

Is the niello easy to care for?
Yes. The niello inlay is fused into the engraved lines, not lacquered or coated. A soft silver cloth is enough for maintenance.
