Material and workmanship

Each of the 24 handles features the same floral niello ornament on the front and back—a detail that is often only applied to one side in cheaper cutlery. The working parts, i.e., the bowls of the spoons and the tines of the forks, are fully gold-plated, standing out clearly from the matte niello field on the handle. The knife blades remain silver and polished, functionally sharp, and well-balanced. All 24 pieces come from the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, whose niello tradition has been documented since 1683.

With a total weight of just over one kilogram, the set feels significantly heavier in the hand than comparable stainless steel cutlery—a haptic feature that distinguishes solid 925 silver from lighter metals. Over time, silver develops a natural patina that enhances the set's character over the years.

Care

Clean the set by hand with warm water and mild detergent immediately after use, and dry the pieces immediately with a soft cloth to avoid water spots. The dishwasher is not suitable—high temperatures and aggressive cleaners can damage the gilding and niello inlay. A special silver polishing cloth is suitable for occasional polishing. With regular use, the silver will develop a natural patina that enhances the set's character.
