Water Pitcher, 925 Silver Niello Essence, 1.5 Liters

A carafe that makes an impact through restraint: the vast majority of its surface is smooth, high-polish 925 sterling silver. Only a narrow niello band featuring blossoms and a single hanging flower drop provide an accent — Essence lets the silver itself do the talking.

Material and craftsmanship

The shape follows the classic amphora: rising slenderly, with a slightly bulbous midsection that transitions into a narrow neck, topped by a wide-opening, trumpet-shaped spout. The curved S-handle sits securely in the hand, the lid features a round ball finial, and the base provides stability for the carafe. A niello band with delicately engraved flowers and leaves runs around the upper belly area; hanging below it is a single flower drop — a pendant — as a distinct, freestanding ornament against the vast expanse of silver.

Unlike carafes with dense, all-over ornamentation, the impact of Essence lies in the interplay between a generous polished surface and a clearly placed niello accent. The ornament is hand-engraved and the niello compound is then melted into the recesses — a permanent bond with the silver, no lacquer, no plating. The Essence is crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, where the art of niello has been documented since 1683.

Usage and occasions

With 1.5 liters, the Essence serves six to eight guests at a festive table — for water, chilled juice, or wine. The weight of approx. 1,020 g feels comfortable in the hand when pouring: heavy enough to feel substantial, balanced enough for elegant serving. As a lasting piece of tableware, the Essence is suitable for weddings, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or housewarmings — especially for those who prefer reduction over lavish ornamentation.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

A personal engraving can be placed on the lid, the handle, or the base — a date, a name, or a short phrase. Precisely because the carafe is overall understated, an individual inscription on the smooth surface appears particularly clear.

Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm, landscape) — digitally customized to suit the occasion, free of charge.

Care

Rinse with lukewarm water after use. For the exterior, a soft cloth with a little silver polish is sufficient to maintain the high-polish surface's luster. Do not put in the dishwasher. If the carafe is used less frequently, it is best stored in a dark, airtight bag to slow down tarnishing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the carafe really made of genuine 925 silver?
Yes, entirely — no silver-plated metal and no other core.

How is the niello inlay crafted?
Niello is a black inlay that is melted into the engraved lines, ground flush, and polished – like ink in silver.

For which occasions is the Essence suitable as a gift?
Especially for people who value quality over quantity — for a wedding, milestone birthday, anniversary, or housewarming. You can find more ideas under Gift ideas in 925 silver.
