The entire body of this ballpoint pen is made of 925 sterling silver, i.e. 92.5% pure silver, without plating or coating. Floral niello tendrils — blossoms, tendril lines and ornamental bands — are melted into engraved depressions across the surface and permanently bonded to the silver. The result is a deep, matte black that clearly stands out from the polished silver and, with time, use, and polishing, deepens rather than wears away.

A round amethyst cabochon with a 7 mm diameter sits on the cap. The rich blue-violet of the stone provides a calm splash of color against the silver and black of the body — subtly placed, but clearly visible.
