Material and workmanship

The Astra Gold butter dish consists of two parts: a fully gold-plated base and a frosted silver lid, whose dome bears an artistic niello floral ornament — leaves and blossoms in deep black niello inlay, engraved by hand. The base is finished with high-gloss gold plating both inside and out, which protects the silver from tarnishing and ensures the butter dish looks flawless even after years of use. The conical handle on the lid is made of frosted silver and allows for elegant lifting. With a diameter of 137 mm and a weight of approx. 400 g, the Astra Gold offers more presentation surface and volume than other models in our Astra line. We curate this silversmith artistry from a Russian workshop for our silver universe.

Usage and occasions

The round shape with its matching lid is equally suitable for butter, cheese, cold cuts, or pastries — serving as a butter dome, cheese dome, or serving cover. For a wedding, it is a gift that can bear a name or the date of the day. For an anniversary, golden wedding, or landmark birthday, it makes a statement that endures beyond the occasion itself. And for daily use, it belongs on the table, not in a display cabinet — solid silver does not deteriorate with time, but rather gains character.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon review, an engraving with a name, date, initials, or a personal dedication is possible on the fully gold-plated base or the frosted lid. With every personalization, we include a complimentary SilberVerse card in a 15 × 10 cm (landscape) photo format — digitally designed, a one-of-a-kind piece for this specific gift.

Care

925 sterling silver and gold plating are not dishwasher safe — hand washing with mild detergent and a soft cloth is sufficient. Gold plating and niello should never be treated with abrasive agents. If the frosted silver tarnishes, a soft silver polishing cloth will help; the niello engraving itself is unaffected and its contrasts deepen with every polish.
