Description
Red or white — the question rarely arises at a set table, because the answer is both. This piece is designed for precisely that situation: two openwork baskets side by side on a shared base tray, with two holding rings above them, and a carrying handle arching into a heart shape above it all. It is the largest piece the manufacturer makes for bottles.
At a glance
- Double bottle holder made of 925 sterling silver
- Height approx. 45 cm — silver weight approx. 1,050 g
- Two openwork baskets with tendrils, two holding rings at half height
- Chiselled central shaft, heart-shaped carrying handle
- Rectangular base tray on four sculptural leaf feet
- Zaramella Argenti, Padua — Manufactory since 1948
Two bottles, one piece
The design follows a simple idea: Two bottles need support at three points — at the bottom, in the middle, and when carried. The baskets hold the base, the rings secure the body, and the handle bears the weight. You can lift both bottles with one hand, which is the actual purpose at a fully set table.
The catalog lists the model as Fusion — the name refers to its construction: a tray, a shaft, and two baskets, soldered together from separately manufactured parts to form one device.
The handle
The heart shape is not mere ornamentation but follows the principles of statics: two outwardly curved volutes distribute the load to both sides of the shaft, instead of hanging it from a single point. The fact that this results in a heart is the manufacturer's signature — the same solution could also be built as a simple bow.
Material
For a piece of this size, solid silver is a prerequisite, not an embellishment. The shaft bears the weight of two full bottles over 45 cm — only solid metal can do that. And the openwork baskets could not be produced with a plating: the layer would chip off when sawing and finishing the edges. The Italian hallmark indicates the material.
What it's suitable for
For long tables and occasions where more than one bottle is involved. On a normal dining table, it's an eye-catcher that takes up space — you should measure it before buying.
For a single bottle and significantly smaller, there is the Acanthus Holder with carrying handle in a similar style; for the table instead of carrying, the Coaster with leaf wreath.
What goes with it
Where this piece stands, silver of a similar caliber fits well: the silver trays for what stands between the bottles, and the decanters and carafes for the wine to be decanted.
For opening, the manufacturer offers the hammered bottle opener, and for cooling, the Inglese Champagne Cooler.
As a gift
A piece of this size is not given casually. It suits occasions that are grand themselves — a golden wedding anniversary, a company anniversary, the handover of a house. Whoever displays it did not buy it to keep it in a cupboard.
An engraving is possible on the edge of the base tray, where the smooth surface bears a dedication without disturbing the ornament; we provide advice beforehand on placement and size. Upon request, we include a SilverVerse card, 15 × 10 cm, currently free of charge.
Care
Hand wash with warm water, mild detergent, and a soft cloth, then dry thoroughly. No dishwasher. The openwork baskets are best reached with a soft brush; in the depressions, the darker depth can remain — it makes the tendrils three-dimensional. When carrying, always hold by the handle, never by the rings. More in the guide on the care of silver cutlery and silverware.
Frequently asked questions
Do two bottles of different shapes fit in?
Bordeaux and Burgundy bottles yes, even mixed. Very wide sparkling wine bottles may touch the holding rings.
Can it be carried with two full bottles?
Yes, that's what the handle is built for. The total weight is then around three kilograms — liftable with one hand, but not casually.
Solid or silver-plated?
Solid 925 sterling silver with Italian hallmark. We do not carry silver-plated goods.
Is this model also available for one bottle?
Not in this design. The Acanthus Holder is the single piece with related ornament.
Is it delivered in gift packaging?
Yes, in high-quality packaging from the manufacturer.
