Material and craftsmanship

A single niello medallion sits on the bowl: a symmetrical floral motif in a triangular cartouche, topped by a narrow ornamental band of vines. The rest of the bowl remains polished silver with a golden rim. This restraint is a deliberate choice: at 110 ml, a dense, full-surface ornament would disrupt the proportions. The medallion gives the goblet character; the polished silver provides serenity. It is crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug using the same niello technique as the larger goblets in the line — just more restrained in its coverage.
