Material and craftsmanship
The angel on the end of the handle is not stamped flat, but sculpted in full relief — you can make out the wings, the contours of the body, and the heart in its hands. This type of craftsmanship requires several steps: casting, grinding, and polishing. The back is intentionally left smooth to provide space for an engraving. At 12 cm long and weighing approx. 31 g, the spoon feels comfortable in the hand — substantial without being heavy. The spoon is part of the Royal Childhood collection by ArgentA and is delivered in a matching gift box.
Usage and occasions
The baptism spoon is suitable for baptisms in any Christian denomination — Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodox. It is also a popular birth gift if you wish for it to accompany the child before the actual baptism, and a classic godparent gift with which godparents can express their bond with the child. In the Christian tradition, the angel represents the messenger between heaven and earth who watches over the child; the heart complements this notion of protection with the human affection of parents, godparents, and family. The design and motif are intentionally neutral, making them equally suitable for boys and girls.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
The back of the spoon is engravable upon review — classically with a name and baptism date, or with a short blessing. Additionally, we can include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15×10 cm landscape) upon request — individually designed, tailored to the occasion, and free of charge. It gives you space for words that won't fit on the spoon. Learn more on our engraving service page.
Care
Clean the spoon by hand using warm water and a soft cloth; do not use abrasive sponges or harsh cleaners. The dark patina that silver develops over time can be removed with a silver polishing cloth. Store the spoon in the included gift box when not in use to protect it from dust and moisture.
Frequently asked questions
Is the spoon suitable for boys or girls?
It is equally suitable for both. The angel and heart are timeless, gender-neutral symbols that complement any baptismal gown.
Which engraving is suitable for this baptism gift?
Classic choices include the name and baptism date. Short blessings or the godparents' initials are also popular. We are happy to advise you on the placement on the back.
What does the angel-with-heart motif mean?
The angel represents protection and faith; the heart represents love and affection. Together, they express that the child is growing up both divinely protected and loved by their family.
