Material and Workmanship

The silver sphere is finely perforated to allow the tea aroma to infuse freely into the cup, while retaining the leaves. The pendant at the end of the chain features a floral niello ornament — a blossom with intertwining tendrils, melted dark into the engraved lines of the silver. This niello technique chemically and physically bonds with the metal; it does not sit on the surface but is part of it. SevChern from Veliky Ustyug is considered one of the few manufacturers that still performs this centuries-old hand engraving in this form.

Use and Occasions

The sphere is opened, filled with loose tea, and hung into the hot cup by its chain. After the desired brewing time, it can be cleanly removed by the end of the chain, without your fingers coming near the hot water. As a gift, a silver tea infuser is suitable for birthdays, Mother's Day, housewarmings, or as a compact addition to a larger silver gift. Care

After use, rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry immediately. Remove tea residue with a soft brush; never put it in the dishwasher. Do not scrub the niello ornament, just wipe it gently — over time, the contrast between polished silver and dark niello tends to deepen.

With a width of approximately 49 mm, the pendant area fits into most standard cups. For very narrow espresso cups, it is worth measuring beforehand.

Both share the same spherical shape and functionality. The only difference lies in the shape and ornament of the pendant — here a curved floral shape, there a lyre silhouette. Which motif is better suited is purely a matter of taste.
