Material and craftsmanship
The motif is crafted from 925 sterling silver; the goldfish itself features a gilding that makes it stand out clearly from the silver mesh pattern. Surrounding the fish is a graphic diamond mesh featuring several small fish, enclosed by a rectangular frame with wave volutes in the four corners. The relief is mounted on a blue-gray velvet mat board and encased in a gold-and-white cord frame.
The piece belongs to the CLASSIC line of the Nielloa collection, which we curate at SilberKosmos — symbolic artworks with cultural depth, crafted by the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, a Russian center for silversmithing since 1683.
Usage and occasions
In Feng Shui, the goldfish is one of Asia's most famous symbols of good fortune: it represents prosperity, abundance, and the constant flow of good things into the home. The mesh pattern in which the golden fish swims can be read as a symbol for abundance that cannot escape — a motif that is rich in meaning without being obtrusive.
As a gift, this wall art is suitable for business openings, company anniversaries, and the turn of the year, whenever the desire for prosperity and success is at the forefront. The goldfish is also a fitting motif for a housewarming in a new home or office, as well as a gift for those with an appreciation for Asian culture or Feng Shui.
Those who already own a piece of wall art from the Nielloa CLASSIC line can add the goldfish as a gallery partner — for example, alongside the lucky horseshoe or the compass rose. Each of the three CLASSIC motifs represents a distinct wish: prosperity, luck, and guidance.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
Upon review, we can engrave a date, name, or short dedication on the back or on the frame. Upon request, we will include a complimentary 15 × 10 cm SilberVerse card with your order: a digitally designed, personalized photo unique to you, featuring your custom text.
Care
Treat the silver surface occasionally with a soft polishing cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners and direct exposure to water. Clean the gilded areas carefully without applying strong pressure to preserve the gilding. The frame requires no special care, but should not be exposed to a permanently humid environment.
Frequently asked questions
What does the goldfish symbolize?
In Feng Shui, the goldfish is considered a lucky charm for prosperity and abundance — a fish that never stays still, symbolizing a positive flow into the home.
Is the gilding permanent?
Yes, the gilding is firmly applied to the silver. For maintenance, however, we recommend polishing the gilded areas only gently to protect the layer of gold.
Does the goldfish fit as a gallery partner with other Nielloa motifs?
Yes, especially with the lucky horseshoe and the compass rose from the same CLASSIC line — together, the three motifs create a statement about luck, prosperity, and guidance.
