Material and Workmanship
The cornucopia is crafted from 925 sterling silver. The upper, open rim of the horn features gold plating with a floral blossom ornament, below which are finely pierced, leaf-shaped openings in the silver. Grapes and vine leaves flow from the upper end of the horn, and it concludes with a horned ram's head at the lower end. The relief is mounted on a green velvet passe-partout, set in a gold and white rope frame.
This piece belongs to the SIGNATURE line of the Nielloa Collection, which we curate at SilberKosmos — premium individual motifs with exceptional detail, crafted by the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, a Russian center of silversmithing since 1683.
Use and Occasions
The cornucopia, known in antiquity as the Cornucopia, has been a symbol of abundance, fertility, and never-ending prosperity for centuries — from it flows everything that enriches life. The grapes and vine leaves reinforce this connection to abundance and good harvest, while the ram's head at the lower end gives the motif a powerful, protective touch.
As a gift, the Horn of Abundance is suitable for business openings, company anniversaries, moving into a new home, or New Year's — anywhere where a wish for prosperity and abundance is paramount. It is also suitable as a representative gift for a business partner or as a special piece for one's own collection.
Engraving and SilberVerse Card
Upon request, we can engrave a date, name, or short dedication on the back or frame. For an engraving order, we also include a SilberVerse card measuring 15 × 10 cm: a digitally designed, unique photo with your desired text — currently free with every engraving.
Care
Occasionally treat the silver surface with a soft polishing cloth — avoid abrasives and direct water. Clean the gilded areas on the rim carefully and without strong pressure to preserve the gilding. The frame requires no special care but should not be exposed to consistently damp environments.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the cornucopia symbolize?
The cornucopia, also known as Cornucopia, has symbolized abundance, fertility, and never-ending prosperity since antiquity — a motif from which new abundance constantly flows.
Why does the horn have a ram's head?
The ram's head forms the lower end of the cornucopia and, in addition to the symbolism of abundance, gives the motif a powerful, protective touch.
Is the gilding durable?
Yes, the gilding on the rim is firmly applied to the silver. When caring for it, we recommend polishing these areas gently to protect the gold layer.
