Material and Workmanship

The lifting surface is harmoniously curved, following a soft, petal-like line, allowing for precise lifting of cake and pastry slices. The handle gently tapers towards the tip; in the lower third, a floral, partly geometrically framed niello ornament is melted darkly into the polished silver. The rest of the handle remains smooth and plain, making the ornament a clear accent rather than a continuous pattern. This niello inlay firmly bonds with the silver and becomes more contrasting with every gentle polish.

Use and Occasions

With a length of approx. 213 mm and a width of 53 mm, this cake server is suitable for common cake and pastry slices as well as for quiche. As a gift, it is perfect for anniversaries, weddings, or for hosts who appreciate elegant but not overly ornate silver tableware. Care Instructions

After use, clean with warm water and immediately polish dry. Do not use a dishwasher or abrasive powder. Gently dab the niello ornament, do not rub. If the polished silver tarnishes, gently polish with a soft silver cleaning cloth.

Why does only part of the handle feature the niello ornament?

With "Snowdrop," the ornament is intentionally placed only on the lower third of the handle, while the rest of the surface remains smooth. This gives the piece a calmer, less dense character than models with full-surface decoration.

Is this real niello hand engraving?

Yes. The ornament is crafted using traditional niello technique: engraved, filled with niello paste, melted, and polished — a centuries-old technique from Veliky Ustyug.
