Special properties of products
Description
Astra Non-Niello shows just how expressive a floral engraving can be when it completely foregoes black niello. The handle and serving blade feature the same botanical design language as the rest of the Astra family, but here without the dark blackening – the focus lies solely on the bright silver luster and the warm gilding that traces the contours of the engraving. The result is a clearer, calmer appearance that unfolds particularly well on light-colored table linens.
At a glance
- Material: 925 sterling silver
- Decoration: Hand engraving and gilding, without niello
- Dimensions: L 217 × W 48 mm
- Weight: approx. 65 g
- Scope of delivery: 1 cake server in a gift box
Material and workmanship
The base is 925 sterling silver, fully gilded and finished with a fine floral engraving. Unlike the niello versions of the Astra line, every indentation here remains without a dark filling – the design is created purely through light, shadow, and the contrast between polished and engraved gold. The cake server shares this construction with other lines in the family: Astra Classic combines the same blossom with black niello on the handle, while Astra Black dispenses with gilding entirely, showcasing the floral ornament in a black-and-silver contrast. Astra Non-Niello is thus the most reduced, brightest variant of the three.
Usage and occasions
The cake server accompanies the cutting of the cake at weddings, silver anniversaries, milestones, and milestone birthdays alike, and also makes a stylish addition to an existing silver collection. Because the engraving does not use niello, the piece appears brighter and more restrained than its black-accented siblings – a great choice for those looking for a subtle yet elaborately crafted table accessory.
Engraving and SilberVerse card
A personal engraving with a dedication is possible subject to review – as the existing floral engraving already takes up a large portion of the surface, we will check together before ordering where an additional line can be placed. Upon request, we can also include a SilberVerse card with every silver gift: 15 × 10 cm in landscape format, digitally designed and free of charge.
Care
The cake server should not be put in the dishwasher, as aggressive cleaning agents can damage the gilding. Hand washing with warm water and a mild detergent, followed by careful drying, will preserve the shine for the longest time. The included gift box or a soft silver cloth is suitable for storage.
Frequently asked questions
Why does this cake server not have black niello like other Astra variants?
Astra Non-Niello is intentionally designed as a reduced variant of the line: the engraving remains without dark filling, so that only gold and silver carry the visual design.
Is an engraving with a dedication possible?
Subject to review, yes. Since the floral engraving already occupies much of the surface, we will clarify before ordering where a personal line can fit.
How do I properly care for the gilding?
Exclusively by hand washing with mild detergent; do not use a silver polishing cloth directly on the gilding, as this can wear away the thin layer of gold.
