Material and Workmanship

The mug and fork are made of the same 925 sterling silver, both featuring the same crayfish medallion with Niello hand engraving — on the mug in the surrounding band, on the fork on the handle. The gold plating on the handle and rim of the mug gives the piece a warmer appearance than pure silver: gold, silver, and deep Niello black together create an image that cool steel or warm ceramic cannot achieve.
