Stemmed glass 925 silver niello fan medallion gilded — 165 ml

A bulbous silver bowl that opens wide at the top – wider than a flute, rounder than a coupe, on an elegant baluster stem with an ornate foot. On the cup sit large fan-shaped medallions in diamond-shaped cartouches: stylized shell forms with niello hand-engraving and golden accents that illuminate each medallion. Delicate tendrils and geometric bands flow in between. Completely gilded inside – a wine goblet for wine that deserves a special setting.

Material and Workmanship

The medallions on this goblet are not fine lines, but large, confident forms that spread across the entire cup. Each shell-fan cartouche occupies almost a third of the bowl's width and is framed by niello tracery. The golden fields behind the fans give the motif a warmth that the cooler pure silver alone would not have – here, three materials work together: polished silver as the base, niello black as the drawing, and fine gold as the accent. On the foot, the theme is repeated in a smaller form: niello bands and small cartouches frame the golden foot ring.

Since each piece is individually chased and engraved, the weight may vary slightly. For a piece weighing approx. 185 g, deviations of a few grams are normal and a sign that a silversmith, not a machine, was at work here. The goblet is manufactured by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug in around 15 working steps.

Use and Occasions

The wide, bulbous bowl shape opens wide upwards – the wine has room to breathe, the aromas rise directly to the nose. With 165 ml, the goblet is suitable for a conscious sip of wine, a liqueur or a dessert wine. For an anniversary, whether 25th, 50th or a company anniversary, it is a goblet that stands on the table at the banquet and then moves into the display cabinet. For a round birthday, it goes well with a good bottle of wine: the wine is drunk, the goblet remains. For a wedding, it can be ordered as a pair on request – two goblets, two engravings, a shared toast. For collectors, the bulbous shape adds a unique silhouette to the collection's slimmer goblet shapes.

Care

Clean with warm water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth, do not put in the dishwasher. No silver dip due to the niello inlays. A silver polishing cloth is suitable for the polished surfaces; the fan-shaped medallions should not be aggressively treated. Stored in the gift box, the shine is preserved.
