Description
At the center of the bowl sits a lotus blossom, framed in a diamond cartouche, set against a golden background that makes the blossom glow. To the left and right, dense floral niello tendrils flow over the silver, and the foot repeats the ornament in a narrow band. This wine goblet made of 925 sterling silver combines niello hand engraving with fine gold plating on the inside, rim, and foot — a goblet for wine that is poured with intention, and for occasions that are not everyday.

Material and Workmanship
The medallion on this goblet features a stylized lotus blossom, set in a diamond cartouche. The lotus is not an unfamiliar element in Russian silver ornamentation — since the 18th century, it has represented purity and perfection and is part of the classic motif repertoire of niello art. Each petal line is hand-engraved into the silver, and the characteristic black niello alloy is then melted by hand in a flame — a chemical-physical bond with the silver, not a lacquer. The golden background behind the blossom gives the motif depth, as if the lotus were floating before warm light. To the left and right of the medallion, dense floral tendrils move over the bowl, symmetrically composed yet lively in their lines. On the foot, a narrow niello band repeats the ornamental theme on a smaller scale. The inside of the goblet is fully fine gold-plated, as are the rim and foot edge — it protects the silver from the acidity of the wine and imparts no taste of its own.
Usage and Occasions
With approx. 175 ml, this goblet is not a glass for a quick sip, but a volume that allows a red wine to breathe, concentrates a dessert wine, and doesn't drown a liqueur. At a wedding or anniversary, a toast from silver lasts longer in memory than one from glass — after the celebration, the goblet becomes the first piece of family silver. For a milestone birthday, the 50th, 60th, or 70th, it is a gift that stands on the table at the feast and then finds its place in the display cabinet. Also as a gift to business partners who appreciate quality, a wine goblet made of 925 silver says more than a gift basket. Those who collect Russian silver or niello hand engraving will find here a piece with clear motif language and fine execution.
Engraving and SilberVerse Card
An engraving is possible upon request — initials, a date, or a short saying can be engraved on the foot or the lower rim of the bowl, provided the surface allows it. We will coordinate this individually with the manufacturer. For personalization, we can include a SilberVerse card in landscape format 15 × 10 cm upon request — a digitally individually designed card for the occasion, recipient, and message, each unique and currently free of charge.
Care
Clean by hand with lukewarm water and a mild dish soap, then dry with a soft cloth. Dishwashers, aggressive cleaners, or abrasive agents should be avoided, as they can damage the gilding and niello surface. A silver polishing cloth preserves the shine of the polished areas. Over time, the contrasts between silver, gold, and niello black deepen visibly with polishing — the goblet does not become duller, but more expressive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one drink wine from the goblet?
Yes — 925 silver is food-safe, and the internal gilding additionally protects against the acid in the wine and does not impart any taste of its own. With approx. 175 ml, the goblet is suitable for red wine, dessert wine, or liqueur. Clean by hand, not in the dishwasher.
What does the lotus blossom motif mean?
Since the 18th century, the lotus in Russian ornamentation has symbolized purity, beauty, and perfection — a motif with a long tradition on Russian silver, here set in a diamond cartouche and surrounded by floral tendrils.
Is engraving possible?
Upon request — initials, a date, or a saying can be engraved on the foot or the lower rim of the bowl, depending on the available space next to the motif and ornament.
