Description
No medallion, no single figure — on this wine goblet, a dense intertwining of blossoms, leaves, and tendrils covers the entire bowl. Executed in Niello hand engraving on 925 sterling silver, with golden areas shining through between the black tendrils, and a complete fine gold plating on the inside. The largest and heaviest chalice in this line: a piece where the ornament itself becomes the motif.

Material and Workmanship
While other chalices feature a central motif — a blossom, a fruit, a figure — this goblet deliberately refrains from it. Instead, a dense intertwining of blossoms, leaves, and tendrils extends over the entire bowl, each line hand-engraved into the silver, the black Niello alloy then hand-melted in the flame and chemically-physically bonded with the silver. Between the black tendrils, the gold gleams like light through a canopy of leaves. This principle of full-surface engraving has its own significance in Russian silversmithing: there is no empty field where uncertainty could hide; every square centimeter of the bowl is designed. This makes this chalice the most elaborate in the line — and at approx. 233 g, also the heaviest. The inside is completely plated with fine gold, as are the rim and foot ring; this protects the silver from tartaric acid and does not impart any taste to the drink.
Use and Occasions
With approx. 230 ml, this goblet offers space for a generous red wine, a full-bodied white wine, or a balm that needs room to breathe. At Ø 76 mm, it is wider than the smaller chalices in the line, giving the wine more surface area to develop. On a festive table, at Christmas dinner or New Year's Eve dinner, this goblet becomes an eye-catcher — not through loudness, but because the dense ornamentation casts shadows in candlelight and changes between silver and gold depending on the angle of light. For a silver wedding anniversary, 925 silver is a natural gift, and even for a wedding itself, such a chalice is a toast that will be remembered; also available as a pair upon request. For collectors of Russian silversmithing, the full-surface ornament without a central motif is an instantly recognizable hallmark of quality.
Engraving and SilberVerse Card
Engraving is possible upon request — the bowl is completely covered with ornament, but there is often space for initials or a date on the foot or stem. We check this individually before personalization is carried out. With an engraving, we can include a SilberVerse card in landscape format 15 × 10 cm upon request — a digitally individually designed card for the occasion, recipient, and message, each unique and currently free of charge.
Care
Clean by hand, with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then dry with a soft cloth. Avoid dishwashers, aggressive cleaners, and abrasive agents, as they can damage the gilding and Niello surface. A high-quality silver polishing cloth maintains the shine of the polished interstices. With regular polishing, the contrasts between silver, gold, and Niello black will deepen even further over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this chalice appear more elaborate than other stemmed glasses?
The full-surface ornament covers the entire bowl — unlike chalices with a single medallion, every square centimeter here is engraved and filled with Niello, which requires more steps. In addition, there are approx. 233 g of silver and the complete gilding.
What drinks is the chalice suitable for?
With approx. 230 ml, it is suitable for red wine, full-bodied white wine, balm, or dessert wine. The internal gilding protects against acid. Clean by hand, not in the dishwasher.
Is engraving possible?
Upon request — since the bowl is completely covered with ornament, we check individually whether there is space for initials or a date on the foot or stem.
