The niello ornament on its stem features the botanical hops motif: cones, tendrils, leaves — a plant that has been part of brewing and table culture for centuries. Niello alloy, hand-fused into engraved indentations, chemically bonded with the 925 silver. Deep black on matte silver, with a gold-plated bowl as a warm accent. The Hops Motif — Niello and Gold Plating

The Hops collection by SevChern features a botanical motif rarely chosen for silverware: the hop plant. Cones, tendrils, and leaves — engraved into the silver, fused with niello, deep black drawing on matte silver. The warm tone of the gold-plated bowl creates a contrast. The result is a spoon with character — recognizable, distinctive, handcrafted in the manufactory.

Niello is not a printed decoration. The engravers draw each line into the silver with a burin, then the black alloy is melted into the indentations — fused, fired, chemically bonded, polished. What emerges is insoluble. In twenty years, the hops ornament on this spoon will look exactly as it does today.
