Teaspoon Zodiac sign Cancer 925 silver gold-plated

Those born in summer who are always there for others rarely receive a meaningful gift themselves. This 925 sterling silver teaspoon turns that around: the Cancer symbol is gold-plated and engraved into the bowl, the stem features a continuous golden sheen, and the handle ends in a niello ornament that gives the piece depth. A small piece of tableware that reflects care back—to the person who usually gives it.

Material and workmanship

The bowl of the spoon shows the Cancer hieroglyph—two interlocking spirals, gold-plated, engraved, and bordered by a fine line. The stem is fully gold-plated. At the end of the handle, a niello ornament with floral scrolls completes the design: the dark niello compound is fused into the engraved lines and bonds chemically with the metal—it does not peel or fade. This niello hand-engraving belongs to the Veliky Ustyug tradition, which has been documented since 1683.

Use and occasions

In everyday life, the spoon is a piece of tableware for coffee, tea, or a small dessert. As a gift, it is suitable for a birthday between late June and late July, for Mother's Day—Cancers often carry a maternal side within them, regardless of biological gender—for the wedding of a Cancerian, or as a thank-you to someone who has supported you through a difficult time.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Since the bowl already bears the Cancer symbol, there is no space left for an additional personal engraving. As a supplement, we offer the SilberVerse card: an individually designed card in 15 × 10 cm landscape format, tailored to the occasion and recipient, free of charge and designed individually for this occasion. It conveys the personal message that the spoon itself can no longer accommodate.

Care

After use, rinse by hand, wipe dry, and store in a dry place. Use silver polish only on the gold-plated surfaces, never on the niello ornament—the fine pattern would suffer. Over time, the contrast between gold and black is strengthened rather than weakened by polishing.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Cancer symbol on the spoon mean?
The double spiral represents the protective shell of the Cancer—a symbol of security, intuition, and the ability to create a safe home. On this teaspoon, it is gold-plated and engraved into the bowl.

Is the spoon also suitable as a Mother's Day gift?
Yes. Astrologically, Cancers are considered the most caring sign of the zodiac, which is why the spoon is well-suited as a Mother's Day gift in addition to a birthday.

How does niello differ from a gold-plated surface?
Niello is a black metal alloy that is permanently fused into engraved recesses. The gold-plated surfaces are polished silver with a gold coating. Together, both techniques create the characteristic gold-black contrast.
