Material and workmanship

The lion's head is crafted as a fully sculptural figure, with a flower-like mane, a heart-shaped face, and two small paws peeking out from under the head. Small silver balls inside create the rattling sound. The handle below is completely smooth and highly polished, without structure or ornament, and tapers to an elegant teardrop shape. A small eyelet ring at the transition between head and handle allows for attaching a ribbon. Manufactured by the Italian silver manufacturer Zaramella Argenti.

From birth, the rattle serves as a gripping and auditory object: parents gently move it in front of the baby, the clatter of the silver balls awakens auditory attention, and the shimmer of the polished silver awakens visual attention.
