Material and workmanship

All nine pieces bear the same floral niello pattern in the botanical plant style of the Veliky Ustyug school: blossoms, tendrils, and leaves. The cup features the ornament on its outer wall, the sugar bowl on its body, the spoon on its handle — the ornamental repertoire, the technique, and the origin are the same everywhere. Niello is not printing ink, not enamel, and not a coating, but a black metal alloy that is melted into engraved depressions and chemically inextricably bonded with the silver. What is on this service will still be there in thirty years. The ornament requires no special care, only the silver around it.

Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild detergent, no dishwasher. The niello ornament is permanently melted in; normal cleaning will not harm it — please avoid abrasive cleaners and silver dip. The matte silver surface can be refreshed with a soft silver polishing cloth. Store in the gift box.
