Material and Craftsmanship

The spoon is made of 925 sterling silver and is completely gold-plated. The floral pattern of the Astra Classic line is hand-engraved into the handle and bowl and filled with niello paste — a dark silver alloy that is melted into the engraved depressions. This creates a fine contrast between the warm gold and the intricate patterning. The piece is manufactured by SevChern, a Russian silversmith from Veliky Ustyug, which continues the local niello tradition.
