Material and Workmanship
The dark surface on the stem is created by targeted oxidation: this treatment creates dark areas in the depressions of the reliefs, while the raised areas remain polished. The result is a strong contrast that makes the angel figure, the moon, and the stars stand out sculpturally. The oxidation is an intended design element and should not be removed—over time, a natural patina may also develop.
Occasions and Target Groups
For baptism, the angel is one of the central symbols of the Christian ceremony and represents heavenly protection. For birth, it is a promise: the child is not alone, there is a power watching over it. As a godparent gift, the spoon makes the responsibility and connection between godparent and child visible. For parents, godparents, and grandparents looking for a gift with spiritual meaning.
SilberVerse Card
Due to the full-surface relief design on both sides of the stem, engraving is not possible on this baby spoon. As an alternative, we offer the free, digitally designed SilberVerse card in photo format 15 × 10 cm (landscape format)—with an individual verse, baptismal verse, or dedication.
Care
Important: The oxidation is intentional and should not be removed. After use, rinse the spoon with lukewarm water and dry it with a soft cloth. Do not use polishing agents or silver polishing cloths, as these would remove the oxidation. The dishwasher is also taboo.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the motifs of the angel, moon, and stars on the baby spoon mean?
The angel stands for protection, the moon for security and safe dreams, the stars for hope and heavenly guidance—together a complete symbol of protection.
Why is the baby spoon oxidized (black)?
The dark areas are created by targeted oxidation, which makes the reliefs stand out more sculpturally. This is a design element, not a defect, and should not be polished away.
Can the baby spoon be engraved?
No, due to the full-surface relief design on both sides of the stem, engraving is not possible. As an alternative, we offer the SilberVerse card.
