Material and workmanship
The rectangular frame is made of silver-colored, rhodium-plated brass with a purple guilloché enamel surface: a fine, repeating ornament was engraved into the metal before several layers of transparent enamel were applied. The pattern shimmers with varying intensity through the enamel layer depending on the incidence of light. A small guardian angel in a silver look sits at the bottom right — praying, delicate, protective. The oval viewing window inside is equipped with real jeweler's glass, the back is made of wood and also offers space for a personal engraving.
