Material and craftsmanship

Grapevines, vine leaves, and grapes flow consistently over the silver decanter, glasses, and funnel. Each line is hand-engraved into the silver, then a black niello inlay is melted into the grooves in an open flame, ground flush, and polished – like ink in silver. It bonds permanently with the silver and becomes more contrast-rich with every passing year. Gold-plated accents – inside every glass, on the rims, and on the spigot – provide warm points of contrast against the black of the niello and the polished white of the silver. The pumpkin-shaped silver decanter with a side-mounted brass spigot for pouring is the heart of the set, placed on a raised fine wood base, around which the six glasses find their place. The set is crafted at the SevChern manufactory in Veliky Ustyug, one of the centers of Russian niello silversmithing.

Usage and occasions

This service is suitable as a gift for the man who already has everything – for Father's Day, a milestone birthday, or retirement. The composition of silver and fine wood also makes an impression as a gift for business partners for a company anniversary or as a prestigious gift for Christmas. For collectors of Russian silver art, it is also a piece with provenance and its own character.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Further engraving is not possible on the niello engraving itself, but engraving on the funnel or the wooden base is feasible upon review – initials, a date, or a short dedication. Upon request, we will include a SilberVerse card in 15 × 10 cm photo format, individually designed and free of charge.

Care

Hand wash, warm water, mild detergent, no dishwasher. No silver dip bath, as this would damage the niello inlays and the gilding. Maintain the gilding with a soft cloth; do not use abrasive polishes. Store the fine wood base in a dry place and do not bring it into direct contact with water.
