The "Golden Grapevine" shot service by SevChern is not just a serving set — it's a composition: a silver dispenser with a brass tap on a noble wood base, six shot glasses on a matching noble wood tray, and a funnel for filling. All hand-engraved, filled with black niello, partially gilded. Crafted in Veliky Ustyug, Northern Russia.

The Grapevine Motif — Niello on every piece

Grapevines, vine leaves, grapes — the motif consistently extends over the silver dispenser, the six glasses, and the funnel. The engraving is not printed: each line is hand-etched into the silver, then the black niello alloy is melted into the depressions at over 800 degrees Celsius. Inseparably bonded with the silver, the pattern becomes more vibrant with each passing year. The gilded accents — inside each glass, on the edges, on the tap — create warm contrasting points against the black of the niello and the white of the polished silver.

The silver dispenser is the centerpiece: pumpkin-shaped, with a side brass tap for dispensing, on an elevated noble wood base. The six glasses stand on the matching tray around it — all in a composition that makes a statement on the table or in a display case.

SevChern — Niello from Veliky Ustyug since 1683

Veliky Ustyug, a city in the Vologda Oblast in Northern Russia, has cultivated the niello silver tradition since 1683. The geographically protected designation of origin is on par with champagne: genuine Ustyug niello may only be produced there. The artist's workshop mark is engraved into each piece, registered annually with the Russian Federal Assay Office. In 1937, this tradition received a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris.

SevChern manufactures this shot service in-house, from raw silver to the hallmark. No machine engraving replaces the burin — the grapevine motif on each of the eight pieces is handcrafted.
