Wine Decanter 925 Silver Niello Pinecones — Cones Collection 750 ml

A pinecone on polished silver — the scales finely engraved, needles and twigs in niello black on cool 925 sterling silver. This wine carafe is the prelude to the Cones collection: a motif that can also be found on glasses, cutlery, and other silverware, all sharing the same stylistic language.

Material and workmanship

The carafe is crafted in a pear shape with a slender neck, a curved handle, and a lid with a polished knob — made from 925 sterling silver, without gilding. The pinecone motif is positioned centrally on the body: the individual scales are engraved and detailed with fine cross-hatching that gives the motif depth, while needles and twigs flow around the cone in niello black, adding movement to the composition. The motif repeats in a smaller form on the neck — an echo that connects the carafe and lid.

The niello inlay is hand-engraved and the dark compound is then fused into the recesses — a permanent bond with the silver, not a lacquer. The carafe is crafted by SevChern in Veliky Ustyug, where the art of niello has been documented since 1683. In Russian ornamentation, the pinecone symbolizes the forest and permanence — a motif that is not season-bound and works on the table at any time of year.

Usage and occasions

750 ml corresponds to a bottle of wine — the carafe was designed for this volume, allowing the contents to be fully decanted and served at the table. Silver without gilding provides a cool, clear appearance, where the pinecone motif and the polished silver shine carry the effect. As the prelude to the Cones collection, the carafe can be complemented with matching glasses, a tray, or cutlery featuring the same motif — piece by piece, as the occasion requires. Whether for a wedding or silver anniversary, a housewarming, or as the foundation for a growing collection of silverware, this carafe is a fitting starting point.

Engraving and SilberVerse card

Upon review, the carafe can be engraved with a name, date, or dedication on the polished surface or the base. It is best to get in touch beforehand to discuss the options.

Upon request, we will include a personal SilberVerse card in photo format (15 × 10 cm, landscape) — digitally customized to suit the occasion, free of charge.

Care

Clean by hand with warm water and a mild detergent; do not place in the dishwasher. Do not scrub the niello surfaces; a soft cloth is sufficient for everyday care. With occasional polishing, the contrast between the silver and the niello deepens over time.
